Easily prepared, these recipes use ingredients you probably have at home and these types of skincare items can be 100% natural. It is perfect for busy women, such as mothers, to indulge in self pampering spa at the comfortable of their home as frequent as they like.
Skin Care and Ingredients
The human body is comprised mostly of skin and no two skin areas are alike.

Some areas like hands, feet and elbows easily dry out becoming rough and sometimes tender. Making skincare products at home for these special areas can use ingredients like beeswax, nut oils especially almond, olive and walnut plus aloe vera juice.
- Aloe is a plant used often when making skincare products at home because of its many natural, healing properties including restoring dry skin, inhibiting microbial growth and soothing damaged skin like sunburn and topical burns.
- Nut oils are natural oils that are absorbed well by the skin.
- Beeswax should be raw, unbleached natural wax and can often be found online, in craft stores and from local beekeepers.
Everyone will be more concern of aging spots and wrinkle on face. Oatmeal, sea salt, cucumbers and strawberries are common ingredients for soothing, refreshing facial masks, detox masks and wrinkle relaxing creams.
Castile soap is often a base for many homemade skin cleansers, but you can make many body and facial scrubs without any type of soap.
- Finely ground walnut hulls in a plain yogurt base is a soft and nourishing exfoliate for the face and feet
- Coarsely ground sea salt combined with honey and cornmeal is another soothing exfoliate.
Chamomile when added to any of these exfoliates may help lighten age spots or skin discoloration plus Vitamin E capsules can be opened and placed on skin or added to yogurt and honey scrubs providing a natural antioxidant property to any homemade skincare product.

Herbs
Adding fresh or dried herbs to blank skincare products can be both beneficial and soothing.
- Peppermint will help skin tissues contract
- Chamomile has a lightening and soothing effect on skin
- Rose oil contains natural emollients
- Sage helps control acne
- Calendula is astringent and healing
- Lavender is soothing
Equipment
Making skincare products at home may not require any additional equipment purchases as most of the needed equipment are standard cooking utensils. A small double boiler, a mortar and pestle, (stone is best so herbs, nuts and hulls do not become embedded in the mortar,) metal spoons, bowls and some small jars or bottles to store your beauty products in. Labels can be helpful so you can include the date you made it and what it is, preventing spoilage and unnecessary waste. However, remember to use permanent markers so water doesn't make the label unreadable.
