Coconut Oil for Skin Care

Well known as natural skincare oil, using coconut oil for skin care is common in tropical region. You can make coconut oil easily and incorporate this natural skin care oil in some skin care recipes. Coconut nut oil has many benefits and uses due to its nutrients and properties.

Coconut Oil Benefits for Skin

Coconut has many uses in this part of the world - the tropical region. Such a common fruit is easily available. However, not many people tap into the benefits of coconut oil. In fact, industrialization has caused most women to lose touch with what nature has to offer. People who have an interest in organic or natural food only know the many benefits of coconut oil for skin.

Unrefined and pure virgin coconut oil is an antioxidant and contains vitamin E. It helps to fight free radicals. Free radicals are one of the main causes of dry and aged skin. Applying coconut oil on skin is an ideal way to moisturize dry and wrinkled skin. It is easily absorbed without any grease and keeps the skin healthy.

In addition, its antimicrobial properties help to prevent fungal and bacterial infections. It is safe to apply without any side effective since it is natural skin care oil.

How to Make Coconut Oil

In fact, it is not difficult to make coconut oil from coconut. Grate the coconut flesh and extract coconut milk from the grated flesh. Some markets do sell grated coconut or coconut milk. These are freshly made on the spot using machine to either grate the flesh or extract the milk.

Cook the coconut milk over low heat. Stir the mixture continuously to prevent being burned. After a while, the oil starts to separate from the mixture. Scoop the oil and keep in a glass jar. Let it cool before using it.

Coconut Oil for Skin Care Recipes

Coconut oil can be added to some homemade skin care recipes. Here are some simple skin care recipes one can easily create at home.

Homemade body lotion helps to moisturize the skin and keeps it healthy.

Body Lotion Bar
1 part Beeswax
1 part Cocoa Butter
1 part Coconut Oil

Melt together in a double boiler then pour into shape molds. When cool, remove from molds.

For those hands, which have taken a toll due to daily housework, pamper it with hand cream every night.

Beeswax Coconut Hand Cream
1/4 cup beeswax
3 tablespoons baby oil
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/3 cup glycerin

Melt the beeswax and coconut oil over a double boiler. Add the remaining ingredients and heat until mixture is smooth for about 4 to 5 minutes.

Pour into a container while still hot since it will harden as it cools.

Violet Bubble Bath
1 quart water
1 bar castile soap (grated)
2 ounces coconut oil
2 ounces glycerin
4 drops violet fragrant oil

Mix all ingredients together. Store in a container. Pour in running water when you want to use it.

No more, worry about cleansing products causing drying skin. Include coconut oil in your own homemade cleansing cream.

Coconut Cleansing Cream
3 tablespoons coconut oil
1 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon glycerin
2 teaspoon water

Melt ingredients together over very low heat until it turns liquid. Remove from heat. Beat as the mixture cools to emulsify. Store in an airtight jar and keep in the refrigerator. After use, follow with an astringent.

If you prefer, simply use the coconut oil as it is. Just a few drop on your sunburn skin provides immediate relieve and soothe the skin. You get a good tan without peeling skin too.
