Homemade Foot Scrub Recipes for Exfoliating Feet

Removing dead and dry skin with foot scrub recipes is one of the proper foot care tips one can do it yourself at home.

Scrubbing or exfoliating our skin helps in removing dirt and dead skin so that the skin can rejuvenate. It helps to keep our skin smooth, clean and we feel nice about it too.

Most of the time, we take great care to exfoliate our face and body. It will be good that we should also remember our feet, which has taken us everywhere on a daily basis. With negligence, problem such as peeling feet and cracked heel will eventually set in. It is always good that we take good care to prevent it before any skin problem set in. Prevention is Better than Cure!

Exfoliating the feet is easy with some foot scrub recipes you can make at home. You can make some of these homemade foot scrubs and store it in the refrigerator. It can last a few weeks if it is kept in airtight container and the ingredients used are fresh.

Peppermint Sugar Foot Scrub

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups sugar
2 peppermint candy cane sticks
1/2 cup olive oil
8 teaspoons milk
4 tablespoons runny honey
4 drops lemon essential oil

Instruction:

Put the candy canes in a plastic bag. Smash it into small pieces using a hammer or other heavy utensil. Smash until the candy is about the size of a large grain of salt. Pour the crushed candy into a large bowl.

Add sugar and olive oil. Stir well to combine. Add milk and stir again. Finally, add honey and lemon essential oil. Stir the mix until you get a grainy paste.

Suggest that you sit in a tub or shower, or over a large bowl when you use the scrub. Scoop the scrub with your palms and massage your feet in circular motions to exfoliate and cleanse. Scrub the heels, between the toes and around the ankles too. You feel soothing and relieving with the peppermint flavor.

After the scrub, cleanse your feet with soap, bath gel or wipe it clean to remove some of the excess oil from your feet. Apply some feet lotion or cream for moisturizing. Your feet should feel polished by now.


If you truly enjoy a good feet treatment, combine your foot scrub with a foot soak. Prepare a foot bath with these homemade foot soak recipes and a scrub with this foot scrub recipe:

Sea Foam Foot Scrub

Ingredients:

3/4 cup sea salt
1 teaspoon clean sand (preferably fine sand)
1 teaspoon skin care oil (You can refer to skincare oil for the type of oil to use)
1 tablespoon liquid soap (If you prefer, mix a drop of your favorite food coloring)

Instruction:

Stir and combine the salt and sand. In a separate bowl, combine the skin care oil and liquid soap and stir well.

Pour the oil and soap mixture into the salt sand mixture. Stir to mix well. If you do include coloring, ensure the color is evenly distributed.

Soak your feet in a homemade foot soak for 10 minutes. Then scoop up a small amount of the scrub. Scrub your feet all over for about 30 seconds and rinse. Dry your feet and apply your favorite feet lotion.


Exfoliating our feet with homemade foot scrub recipes is easy with all these simple natural ingredients. However, one must take note that it is not advisable to scrub feet with broken and inflammation skin. It can do more harm than good.
